When Assetto Corsa EVO updates

What a game update means for your server, and what our compatibility labels mean.

AC EVO is in Early Access and updates often. Drivers and servers have to run the same version to play together, so updates matter.

What happens to my hosted server?

  1. We watch Steam for new dedicated-server builds and usually know within half an hour of release.
  2. We test the new build with Pitwall’s timing, results and telemetry on our own servers.
  3. Once it passes, we update the game on the machines that run hosted servers. Your server runs the new version from its next start or restart - restart it when your session is over. The server page tells you when a newer AC EVO version is out.

Game updates are rolled out by us (the game install is shared on each machine), so there’s no “update” button for individual servers.

What do the compatibility labels mean?

You’ll see these on the changelog and your server page:

Label Meaning
Verified We’ve tested this version. Racing, timing, results and telemetry all work.
Works with known issues Racing works; something in Pitwall’s data doesn’t yet. The note says what.
Testing We’re checking it right now. Racing almost always works; data features may not.
Not tested yet It’s new or we haven’t got to it.
Broken Don’t update yet. We’ll say what’s wrong and when it’ll be fixed.

Racing itself is Kunos’s server, so it almost always works on day one. What can break after an update is Pitwall’s data - live timing, results and telemetry - because those read the game’s network traffic. That’s what our testing is about.

Self-hosting?

Your server updates when you run SteamCMD (the Pitwall wrapper does this before each start). Check the changelog before updating; if a version is marked Broken, hold off.
