Pitwall vs other AC EVO hosts

How Pitwall compares with typical rental hosts, the official rental and self-hosting with a server manager tool, by category.

Checked on 2026-10-19. This page compares kinds of options, not named companies, so it stays true as individual products change. Check any host’s current page before you buy.

There are four realistic ways to get an Assetto Corsa EVO server for your league or friends:

  1. A typical rental host. A general game-server company that lists AC EVO next to dozens of other games. You get a running server process and a generic panel.
  2. The official rental. The server offering that comes with the game itself. Simple and supported, and focused on getting a server online.
  3. Self-hosting with a server manager tool. You run the free Kunos server on your own PC or VPS, and add a community or commercial manager on top for events and results. You own the machine, the network and every update.
  4. Pitwall. A managed host built around the data. Timing, results, lap compare, telemetry and driver pages come from our own engine, and the server controls are meant to be just as good.

What each option is good at

  • Typical rental hosts are fine when you only need a server up and do not care about data. They are often cheap, and many offer several locations.
  • The official rental is the simplest path if you want the first-party experience.
  • Self-hosting with a manager tool gives you the most control: your own hardware, your own mods and settings, and no monthly host fee. It costs time. You maintain the machine, the port forwarding and every game update. If you enjoy running servers or already have a machine on 24/7, it is a good choice. Our hosting guide covers the steps.
  • Pitwall is for leagues and communities that care about the data: who was faster where, per-driver history, results you can share, and a managed server underneath so nobody is the sysadmin on race night.

Which should you pick?

  • Pick self-hosting if you want maximum control, need a mod or setting a host does not allow, or only race with a few friends on a machine that is always on.
  • Pick a rental host if you want a server running with no extra tooling.
  • Pick Pitwall if lap data, results and driver pages matter to your league and you would rather not wire them up yourself.

Pitwall does not run on your own hardware yet. Hosting is managed only. See the config reference for what you can set, or pricing for plans.
